THE INTERIM

Our Lord Jesus Christ brought Mrs. Michael Schiavo to the forefront of the American politic in order to show our nation its sin of “divorce and remarriage.” Terri’s marriage vow may have cost her the very life that God had given her.

Her husband, Michael Schiavo, was committing adultery against Terri, by any definition of the word. And according to ‘popular’ protestant theology today, was guilty of an offense that would have warranted just grounds for divorce by his wife, Terri Schiavo.

According to this view of marriage, Michael’s adultery had broken the marriage bond between himself and his wife, and he was no longer married to Terri in the eyes of God.

But yet the civil authorities still recognized the civil contract between the two, which allowed Michael to kill his wife by denying her food and water.

It seems that Terri was being forced to remain faithful to her marriage vow by the very people who would insist that her husband’s adultery would have “freed” her to marry another.

How perverted.

Not only does Mr. Schiavo commit adultery with impunity, but he demands that his wife forgive him, so that he may legally kill her!

Michael could have divorced his wife and left her to the care of her parents if wanted to, and would have no longer had the power to influence the civil authorities to execute his wife. But he didn’t do it. Apparantly his concubine couldn't live with that.

Terri could have divorced her husband for adultery and in doing so saved her very life from his punishing sword; but she could not. Her husband had denied her even a drop of water from his finger tip upon her parched tongue to relieve her torment.

A child was arrested for trying to bring Terri a cup of cool water, as a Church stood by and watched - After all it was the law...

And here we have the end result of the protestant church considering marriage to be a civil contract, ‘until adultery does you part’, and wholesale giving over to the state government what the faithful throughout church history have spilt their blood to protect.

The “innocent” spouse is murdered by her adulterous husband and his paramour: and they are justified in doing so.

I say he was only following the example of an adulterous church.

Now hear this protestant and catholic heretics!

The Covenant of Holy Matrimony is indissoluble. Once God acts on a marriage vow to establish a one-flesh relationship, that bond is until death. Not even the Atonement can change that.

Terri Schiavo has proven this: by sacrificing her life for her vow.

I for one am sick of the Protestantization of the Church !

Canon 1090 defines what canonists call the marriage impediment of crime. (or crimen).

The first paragraph of Canon 1090 is clear:

“One who, with a view to entering marriage with a particular person, has killed that person’s spouse, or his or her own spouse, invalidly attempts this marriage.” In short, the church will not recognize your marriage if you kill your spouse while hoping to marry another particular person. After all, “Till death due us part” does not mean you can kill your spouse to marry another.

Canon 1090’s second paragraph is similarly clear :

“They also invalidly attempt marriage with each other who, by mutual physical or moral action, brought about the death of either’s spouse.”

This means that the church will not recognize the marriage of two people who co-operated in killing the spouse of one person or the other. This co-operation may be physical or it may be moral and marriage need not be the original motive for the murder.
